Police Officer Injured in Car Crash Accident
On June 11, 2012, Sgt. Roch DeFrances of the Howard County Police Department was traveling westbound on Baltimore National Pike (Route 40) in Ellicott City in his police car, a 2012 Dodge Charger. Just after 10:30 p.m., a 2009 Hyundai Sante Fe allegedly turned from the eastbound lanes at the intersection with Marriottsville Road and failed to yield the right of way to the police officer, who had a green light, according to The Baltimore Sun.
Injuries are Common in a Car Accident
Unfortunately, many people are injured in a car accident as a result of another driver’s failure to yield the right of way at an intersection. This violates what is known as the “rules of the road.” Maryland traffic laws or statutes prescribe rules of the road to govern traffic safety and to avoid car crashes and injury from car accidents.
