Electrocution Accident on Construction Site Kills Man

The worker, Emeterio Badillo Soto, 29, of Hyattsville, was carrying metal scaffolding at the site in the 9200 block of Furrow Avenue when it touched an electrical wire. Howard County Police reported that Howard County fire and rescue personnel responded and provided CPR, but the worker died at the scene.

The second leading cause of worker deaths on construction sites is electrocution accidents, according to the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration. An electrocution injury is a horrific way to die. Even workers who survive may suffer horribly painful injuries, often resulting in terrible disfigurement.

The master electrician decided not to de-energize the electricity, and placed a wrench on the electrical panel. When he turned the wrench, it contacted the adjacent connection, causing a large electrical arc. The electrical bolt killed the master electrician, and seriously injured his assistant standing nearby. The injured assistant was taken to a regional burn center with terrible and painful burns over most of his body. Mr. Smith successfully obtained a six figure recovery for the injured worker.
